Chasing Contentment

Tuesday, August 22

Reading is one of the big things that we emphasize in our house. Now that Mike's done with his doctorate, he's even reading... a real book! And when the opportunity presents itself to use reading for a good cause, I'm all about doing that.

Jump Start is doing Read for the Record this Thursday, and we're going to register and participate.

You can also buy a limited edition of the book at Starbucks, available during the month of August (which seems like a fine reason to go in for a chai latte!). Because Pearson and its subsidiary Penguin, the book's publisher, have donated the printing, 100 percent of the purchase price supports Jumpstart's work with at-risk children.

I'm glad you posted this site. Yay for early childhood literacy advocates! Too bad we don't have a Starbucks near us that is participating. Boo!!!

Griff's out of school for some weird holiday, and so we may hit every Starbucks in town until we find one that's participating. I'll be all hopped up on chai caffeine by the time he and I make it to the movies. :)
